100 Ways to Make the Best Weekend Breakfast
I wrote a blog post for another site about the perfect weekend breakfast. I staked my claim on two points:
It's unbelievably good.
It's super convenient. You can make it days ahead, store it in the refrigerator, and stick it in the oven on your weekend morning.
It's baked French toast and there are lots of ways to make it.
It wasn't until yesterday that I connected your last Country Home Kitchen magazine with stuffed French toast. On page 10, you'll find 21 ways to make stuffed French toast. They can be morphed into baked French toast and be the inspiration for a hundred more.
Pancake syrups. Choose from nine. There's a limit of three but they're only a buck apiece so get all three. They're very scrumptious. For me, it would be coconut, lemon, and original caramel.
Bavarian cream. I consider this a kitchen staple for cupcakes, between cake layers, crepes, even on pancakes. (It'll last six months in the refrigerator after opening.) Mix it with raspberry jam to make a raspberry cream filling or mashed bananas to make a banana cream filling. (It's $2 a pound and you can't buy the cream and eggs and make your own for that.)
