China Law and Practice is the most respected legal and risk management resource for investors in the PRC, as well as investors for China outbound investment, providing in-depth analyses and comprehensive translations of the latest Chinese laws. Since its launch in 1987, China Law & Practice has been helping senior executives and in-house legal counsel of the largest foreign and multinational companies, joint ventures and domestic Chinese companies, as well as government organizations and top law firms, keep abreast of legal developments in China and foreign regulatory matters related to China outbound investment, and understand their impact on investment access and business operations. In this month’s issue, China Law & Practice provides an in-depth analysis of China’s first court judgement on cross-border data transfer in the featured article, Landmark Court Ruling Adds Clarity to China's Personal Data Export Regime, where Casper Sek and Alan Zhang of Jingtian & Gongcheng analyze the first court judgment on cross-border data transfer, which answers practical questions relating to the operation of the Personal Information Protection Law in the context of a hotel booking app, and prompts companies to review their privacy policies. |

The new reports from Pacesetter Research will explore where law firms (and their competitors like legal services providers) are putting their innovation dollars, where these investments are paying off – and where they are not. While this term, “innovation” is often equated with technology, innovation can take many forms. This new research looks across innovation in law firm management, client engagement, the firm value proposition, and service delivery. It will cover innovation that has real impact, whether that impact moves the needle on talent strategy, cost management, or client outcomes – and to that point, this research also incorporates the client voice and legal department perspectives on law firm innovation initiatives. Pacesetter Research also takes into account non-traditional competition – the ways in which non-law firms are competitive in the legal space, directly and indirectly. Law.com Compass Pacesetter Research provides independent, objective research to the legal and professional services worlds, and is designed to provide practical insights that inform the decision-making process for law firm and legal department leaders, and other related professionals. The first two of our new reports will release in October: Innovation in Law Firm Management and Innovation in Client Engagement. |
