Tears of Llorona Extra Añejo was meant to be Master Distiller Germán González Gorrochotegui’s private stock. He began with high altitude, slow growth agaves from his compadres’ estates in Jalisco, grown in the volcanic slopes of the Mexican highlands, where agaves grow slowly and naturally to achieve higher starch content. Each agave is personally inspected before harvesting to ensure only the finest are selected. He then layered in the rich complexities of five years in a sequence of very distinct barrels – Scotch, Sherry, and Spanish Brandy. It is an exceptional, additive-free product that many consider the finest extra añejo they’ve ever tasted. Germán González is a master tequilero and fifth-generation descendant of Manuel González, president of Mexico (1880). He learned his trade helping his father select, roast, distill, and blend blue agaves into what many critics believe are the finest tequilas in the world. Tears of Llorona is Germán’s third creation. Tears of Llorona has been named the best tequila in the world by the Beverage Tasting Institute and has recently been featured in Forbes, Rolling Stone, Vanity Fair, The Wall Street Journal, Robb Report, and many more. |
