| | Good morning Voornaam, Just under 24 hours before the polls open, The Scotsman has an exclusive poll today on the state of the parties in Scotland. And it may provide First Minister John Swinney with some cheer. While Labour has been ahead for much of the campaign and there were predictions of the SNP dropping to well under 20 seats, this latest poll by Savanta suggests the Nationalists could yet win the most seats north of the Border. Political Editor Alistair Grant crunches the numbers today with the SNP now on 34 per cent of the vote, while Labour is on 31 per cent – a fall of seven points from the middle of June. That would mean the SNP returning 24 MPs compared to Labour’s 22. Elsewhere today, as the postal vote controversy continues, Political Correspondent Rachel Amery takes a look at the 13 constituencies where just a handful of missing votes could really make a difference to the result. We also look ahead to more Royal events in Edinburgh today, as King Charles, Queen Camilla, and Prince William are due at a service at St Giles’ Cathedral to install three new members of the Order of the Thistle – Scotland’s oldest and highest chivalric honour. Alison Campsie takes a look at the new members being inducted. I hope you have a great day Alan | |
