Life in the Canary Islands and Spain always seems to be punctuated by amazing Carnivals and enthusiastic Fiestas. There are just so many, with each town and village having their own special patron saint and accompanying fiesta days (or weeks, in some cases); sometimes it is hard to keep up with them. I love to see, hear and take part in them if I can. It is wonderful to see Canarian children dressed in traditional costume, singing and dancing, with their parents and friends enjoying the warmth of the day until late evening or, more usually, early morning. I am sure that these early experiences, traditions and social activities have a considerable influence upon the sense of belonging, community spirit and working together that is so important for a well-balanced life.
