Hurricane forecast: A warmer Atlantic Ocean and the return of La Niña have hurricane researchers at Colorado State University predicting an "extremely active" 2024 Atlantic hurricane season. Project back on: The New Orleans City Council has reached a deal with developers of the River District that will give the city oversight over key aspects of the $1 billion public-private project. The agreement, which will get a formal vote next month, appears to resolve a dispute that had stalled the riverfront development. Tony McAuley has the details.
S&WB saga: The political fallout continues over a bill filed by a New Orleans Democrat that would wrest local control of the board that oversees the Sewerage & Water Board and put much of it in the hand of state appointees. On Thursday, City Council members bashed the bill, suggesting the motive behind the proposal might not be what it seems. Ben Myers has this report.
