Learn how to craft the perfect pulp short story by using tips and tricks from a pulp legend. Your heroes and villains will be compelling. Your plot will be character driven and entertaining. You'll incorporate all of your senses into your writing. And, you will discover the perfect spots to start and finish your story. At the conclusion of the course, your pulp short story will be reader ready. You may write within any pulp genre: mystery/thriller, action/adventure, romance, western, sci-fi/fantasy, horror, and others. The Pulp Fiction Writing course includes a full edit of your story by best-selling author Philip Athans. The online workshop begins July 28th and costs $229.99.

In the Pulp Fiction Writing Workshop you will have the opportunity to choose your genre and start writing 1500 words each week using the master plot formula. You'll finish your story on week four. You'll make sure that the suspense remained until the last line and that everything happened logically. At the end of the workshop, you'll be able to see if you've left the reader with a highly satisfied feeling. Class members are encouraged to participate in the peer critique section of the workshop.

"The biggest takeaway from this course, looking closely at the techniques of the great pulp fiction masters, is to give authors a set of reminders that keep the plot of any story or novel, on track. And this isn't meant to be done in any sort of formulaic way, but as a means of sensitizing authors to the ideas of raising stakes, keeping characters personally involved and active. These are plot structure and character motivation tools that can inform not just pulp/genre short stories, but any fiction of any length in any genre (or no genre at all). These are tools to help you engage your readers and keep them engaged from beginning to end."
