AUCTION

'STUDIO JEWELRY & ART JEWELRY'

7 December

In past years, studio and art jewelry have become an established part of our auction program. Look forward to over 80 exciting objects in December.

The pioneers of studio jewelry
Focussing on the pioneers of studio jewelry, we are once again pleased to offer works by Hermann Jünger in this auction. The bangle from the 1970s stands out in particular, demonstrating Jünger's extraordinary flair for composition with its relief surface and deliberately placed gemstone cabochons. Figurative elements and nature-related materials find their way into Ebbe Weiss-Weingart's work. The artist, who was the third woman to be awarded the Golden Ring of Honor of the Gesellschaft für Goldschmiedekunst in 1978, is represented in the auction with a brooch, earrings and a bracelet.

Master of iron - Jan Wehrens
Special attention is paid to the jewelry artist and sculptor Jan Wehrens. Born in the Netherlands, he came to Munich in the 1970s to study at the Academy of Fine Arts and has remained loyal to the city ever since. The free surface design with tombac and fire gilding is a recurring theme, as wonderfully illustrated in an early brooch from 1979. The material iron is also indispensable, and Wehrens repeatedly celebrates its heaviness and color in his pieces. The expressive double bangle from 1987 is particularly noteworthy. Wehrens produced a total of three pieces in slightly different designs. The other two pieces are in the Neue Sammlung, Munich and the Grassi Museum, Leipzig. A total of eight of his works enrich the collection.

There is no shortage of extraordinary earrings in the December offer. Lined up circles with green and blue pigments make the ear studs by Giampaolo Babetto a real eye-catcher. His works are highly coveted among collectors. Anyone who wants 'Amore am Ohre' (Love on the ear) will find the right companions in the playful ear studs by Manfred Bischoff. Bischoff's pieces of jewelry, which also adorn the cover, are wearable poetry and often tell a whole story.

Art Jewelry
With designs after Georges Braque, whose famous bird motifs have been transformed into pendants and brooches, as well as Robert Indiana's iconic 'LOVE' designs, the art jewelry category is once again well represented.
