The coronavirus is “extremely unlikely” to have leaked from a lab in the Chinese city of Wuhan where Covid-19 first emerged, the head of the World Health Organization team of experts in China said Tuesday. Speaking at a news conference to discuss the first details of the WHO team’s fact-finding mission into the origins of the virus, Dr. Peter Ben Embarek said it was more likely that the virus had jumped to humans from an animal. The lab hypothesis, promoted by some including former President Donald Trump, does not warrant future study, he said. |
