On the cover of Aviation Week & Space Technology’s Feb. 17, 1975, issue, a U.S. Army/LTV Aerospace Corp. Lance battlefield support missile leaves its self-propelled tracked launcher in a test of a non-nuclear high-explosive warhead. The warhead, developed as an alternate for the nuclear-armed Lance then deployed in Europe, carried bomblet submunitions.
