Night(life) at the museumRevel in the history of the capital’s late-night scene at London Transport Museum on 15 November. This Museum Late is the venue’s first sober social — but you can still indulge in a good drink! Grab an alcohol-free cocktail/wine/beer from Club Soda’s pop up bar and enjoy mini operas, a quiz hosted by a drag legend, expert talks and sober raving. This 1890 comedy follows a debt-ridden MP whose acceptance of — wait for it — spurious favours has landed him in hot water. A rave-reviewed new production of this story of blackmail, bloodthirsty broadsheets, and the British class system is at Menier Chocolate Factory now. New East London cookbookThe Dalston institution that is Mangal II has released its debut cookbook, showcasing a collection of contemporary Turkish recipes. Mangal II: Stories and Recipes marks the restaurant’s 30th anniversary and features heartfelt essays about the food, creativity and legacy of this family business. Prioritise progressAs the aphorism goes, perfect is the enemy of the good. That’s the philosophy of, well, Voltaire, but also of this Progress Not Perfection workshop led by F*ck Being Humble founder Stefanie Sword-Williams. It takes place at One Hundred Shoreditch on 23 October and will cover how to commit to small steps in order to reach big goals.
