Grand Central Publishing Fall Books Preview Featuring Stephen Chbosky and Susannah Cahalan Tuesday, September 17, 2019 2-3 PM ET, 11 AM-12 PM PT Grand Central Publishing presents two blockbuster authors previewing their long-awaited second books, Imaginary Friend by Stephen Chbosky (10/1/19) and The Great Pretender by Susannah Cahalan (11/5/19). Stephen Chbosky is the bestselling author of The Perks of Being a Wallflower. He directed the hit film adaptation of The Perks of Being a Wallflower, as well as the film adaptation of Wonder. In conversation with his publicist Andy Dodds, Stephen will discuss his epic new work of literary horror, Imaginary Friend, about a mother and son fleeing abuse only to find something much more sinister in the small town where they seek refuge. Award-winning, bestselling author of Brain on Fire Susannah Cahalan, in conversation with her editor Millicent Bennett, will then detail her investigation into one of psychiatry’s most famous—and controversial—studies, in which eight “normal” people checked themselves into mental institutions where they had to remain until they could “prove” they were sane. Cahalan’s explosive new research shows that very little about this study was exactly as it seemed, and her unexpected findings are revealed in her propulsive narrative history, The Great Pretender. Each author will take audience questions at the end of their respective talks! Register Now! Panelists Stephen Chbosky, Author & Director Susannah Cahalan, Author & Journalist Moderators
