Family of murdered 11-year-old pleads for change

11-year-old Matthew Fortenberry loved basketball, and his team had just won a trophy. But instead of celebrating, his family is mourning his death after a hail of bullets struck the car he was sitting in. 

Here's how his mother and father are pleading for change in the community, and how city leaders are rasing money for his funeral expenses. 


It is Baton Rouge's biggest project to stop floods, and it has been in the works for at least four decades. State and federal officials are carving a huge artificial river, the Comite Diversion Canal, that would help stop local waterways from overunning their banks.

But while work is finally underway, the massive project is yet again running into delays. Here's the latest on how many more hurricane seasons are expected to pass before the buffer is ready.
