A chilling comedy about the nature of love and art

Big London theatre news — the first major revival of Neil LaBute's The Shape of Things in over 20 years opens later this month. This Olivier-nominated play transports audiences to a college campus in small-town America where all is not what it seems...

Rising stars Luke Newton (who you might recognise as Colin in Bridgerton) and Amber Anderson (Peaky Blinders) play Adam and Evelyn. The former, a college student. The latter, an art post-grad who encourages Adam to change his appearance, as the pair embark on an ever-shifting romance. What follows is a darkly funny exploration of the drama of human relationships and the nature of love and art.

The Shape of Things premiered at the Almeida Theatre in 2001, starring Rachel Weisz and Paul Rudd. Back then, critics called it "absolutely chilling" (Evening Standard), "Private Lives on speed" (The Spectator) and a "truly spectacular tour-de-force of theatre" (What's On Stage), and it was swiftly adapted into film. But don't stream it just yet — book tickets to Park Theatre revival instead and brace yourself for unexpected turns.
