ABDUCTION IN AFRICA: A Kenner native and Marianite nun who has served since 2014 as a missionary in the West African country of Burkino Faso has been kidnapped. Sister Suellen Tennyson, 83, was abducted Monday night by unidentified men who vandalized a convent where she lived with other religious women, according to information relayed to local church leaders by Bishop Theophile Nare of the Kaya Diocese.
CRUNCH TIME: As the spring festival season finally returns to form, moves are underway to bring back fall festivals, too, after the pandemic hiatus as well. Among them, the National Fried Chicken Festival said it will return in October with creative dishes from a wide range of vendors, live music and a new home on the New Orleans lakefront.
