Good morning Valued Subscriber,
Canberrans are paying tribute to a business giant after Terry Snow died aged 80 overnight on Saturday. He leaves behind an incredible legacy in property development and philanthropy, including the evolution of the Canberra airport. Chief Minister Andrew Barr recognised Mr Snow as a "great Canberran", while his family released a statement honouring his generous spirit. "Terry's generosity touched the lives of many, and he lived by his own words, 'If you see someone struggling you give them a helping hand'." And with that mentality in mind, this week we recognise Homelessness Week - when communities and decision-makers are asked to think about how we can best support those Aussie families and, increasingly, children who don't have a safe place to sleep. As a new Homelessness Australia report reveals more than 76,000 children a year are seeking help from homelessness support services, countless volunteers, shelter and service staff and donors are quietly doing their bit to try and ease the burden for those living on the brink. Among them is Hollywood star Chris Hemsworth, who talks to us today about why he contributes to his beloved Byron Bay community's Fletcher Street Cottage. In our exclusive interview, the Thor movie star says more people like him who can afford it, as well as governments, need to step up and do more to help the homeless. "It's the human thing to do," Hemsworth says.
