It's been a huge week here at RN. After 17 years, we're farewelling the incomparable Fran Kelly from RN Breakfast. Fran will remain with the ABC, including some new special projects to be announced next year. So many of you have commented how your mornings won't be the same without her. As one listener put it: "Our family, from grandparents to grandchild, always have RN on in the mornings as we get ready for school and work. If the radio isn't on, someone always asks, 'Where's Fran?' You feel like part of the family." We know this sentiment is shared by the whole RN community, but we look forward to seeing Fran's plan for next year and beyond. We've also launched a brand new series of Stuff the British Stole, hosted by Marc Fennell and co-produced with the Canadian public broadcaster's CBC Podcasts. First up, hear how the kidnapping of a child in Geneva uncovered a hidden Maori treasure, and sparked a bitter fight to bring it home. Then, check out the latest episode of our special series from The Bookshelf, Five Star Reviewers, where special guests read iconic works. This week, actor Geraldine Hakeweill reads Katie Kitamura's Intimacies, and writer Graeme Simsion reads Mary Lawson's A Town Called Solace. Enjoy your weekend,

Stuff The British Stole is back! |
|
Throughout its reign, the British Empire stole a lot of stuff. Today those objects are housed in genteel institutions across the UK and the world. They usually come with polite plaques. This is a series about the not-so-polite history behind those objects.
In each episode of this podcast, award-winning journalist and author, Marc Fennell, picks one artefact and takes you on the wild, evocative, sometimes funny, often tragic adventure of how it got to where it is today. | LISTEN |

For the seventh season of the award-winning kids' podcast, Fierce Girls, we're partnering with the National Gallery of Australia's Know My Name initiative, and brushing up on the adventurous women of the arts world.
These are the stories of five extraordinary Australian artists.
The season is introduced by 11-year-old Ella Flitton, a finalist in the 2021 Young Archie competition, and the acknowledgement of country comes from 11-year-old Tiyana Power, speaking Kaurna language. | LISTEN |
