| ‘Fatherhood is a joy almost undeserved’ |
|
| | Fatherhood is an almost universal goal for males, according to a poll from ChildTrends and the Marriage Strengthening Research & Dissemination Center. The poll shows that more than 86% of teen boys say they intend to become fathers. Studies have shown the benefits for children when they have an active father in their lives, but fathers also benefit from that role. Men have claimed that fatherhood gave them a "sense of purpose" and the ability to "to mold and assist another individual." “Fatherhood is a joy almost undeserved. The joy it has brought me exceeds the amount of work I put in,” Dr. Brett Parkinson, a medical consultant to two health care companies, told the Deseret News. |

| A new poll from the Deseret News/Hinckley Institute of Politics shows that 52% of Utahns oppose HB467, a bill passed earlier this year that would require all abortions to be performed in hospitals. The poll also found that 46% of the surveyed Utahns approve of SB174, a bill passed in 2020 that would only allow abortions under limited circumstances such as if the pregnancy resulted from a rape, if the mother's life is at risk, or if two physicians practicing "maternal fetal medicine" determine the fetus "has a defect that is uniformly diagnosable and uniformly lethal." Both HB467 and SB174 are not currently enforced due to pending legal challenges. Read more about how Utahns feel about abortion laws.
