Sources say FBI agents have questioned two local businessmen who contributed to Mayor LaToya Cantrell’s campaign accounts, though both said they received no special treatment in return. Gordon Russell and John Simerman have the details.
A jury was seated Monday in a high-profile carjacking and murder case, but not before three of the four teenage defendants accepted plea deals that will see them serve 20 years in prison. The last defendant, 18-year-old John Honore, is being tried as an adult in the March 2022 carjacking that saw 73-year-old Linda Frickey dragged alongside her SUV as it was being stolen. Hundreds turned out Monday for Northshore District Attorney Warren Montgomery’s funeral Mass at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church near Mandeville. Montgomery was in the middle of his second six-year term as district attorney for St. Tammany and Washington parishes when he died of kidney cancer on Nov. 10. Bob Warren has the story.
