Mum’s the word: The internet craves a forbidden drink

The internet community is many things, but cautious isn’t one of them. We’re talking about a demographic that popularized munching on Tide pods! But this story was too strange to keep under wraps. Archaeologists in Egypt discovered a massive sarcophagus in Alexandria filled with multiple skeletons and a mysterious red liquid with a rancid smell. Dubbed “mummy juice” by netizens, the disgusting slurry became a popular meme — eventually becoming a petition on Change.org. The petiton’s organizer demanded the archaeologists let people “drink the red liquid from the cursed dark sarcophagus in the form of some sort of carbonated energy drink so we can assume its powers and finally die.” Well, the petitioners would almost certainly get their wish if they took a sip. Scientists analyzing the liquid determined it was nothing more than sewer water that leaked into the coffin from the streets above. How crappy.

This holiday season, why not enjoy a drink that won’t kil l you?
