GET TO KNOW JENNY WONG

Jenny Wong is a visual storyteller,conservationist, and fellow of the Royal Canadian Geographic Society. She is currently documenting the Canadian High Arctic. Through her lens, she is committed to capturing the impact of climate change on these fragile, remote landscapes. She exists at the intersection of science and art, and will be bringing that perspective to CMH Cariboos this August.

COMMITMENT TO COMMUNITY

CMH operates in the traditional unceded territories of the Ktunaxa, Secwépemc, Syilx, Sinixt, Carrier, and Stoney Nakoda Nations. This past August, the ʔaq̓am Band of the Ktunaxa First Nation offered its youth the chance to spend time in their traditional territory at CMH Galena, an area in the West Kootenay region of British Columbia.

Participants explored their relationship with the land and their community, engaged in ceremony, and ultimately tightened their bond together. The elders shared their teachings around language, genealogy, plants and traditional games.
