Halls Fine Art collective auctions are always fun but we have some real show-stppers this month!

Lot 89

“A tantalising glimpse into the past, detailing scenes of the then British ruling  visiting the African and Asian continent, lands of the Empire’s conquest, including scenes of sharks being landed from a cruise liner and observations of traditional tribal dance and ceremony – moments frozen in time as advances In travel allow privileged westerners to visit these exotic lands for recreation for the first time. The images often reflect the jarring cultural juxtapositions of the hosts and their visitors which can be uncomfortable to a modern viewer. Such pieces are sought after by collectors as they are not mass-produced ‘stock’ images but real photographs captured by those who were there, allowing us to peer into a now long-lost world and society”.

Lot 18

The jewellery market is as buoyant as ever with period pieces becoming increasingly sought after. These two stunning brooches, which date from the late 19^th century are as fashionable today as they were almost 150 years ago. The simple and understated design of the seed pearl set rectangular example wouldn’t look out of place on a modern coat or jacket to be worn everyday and the addition of diamonds on the second example makes it perfect for a special occasion.

We are holding a free valuation event  on Sunday 10th February from 2pm - 4pm.  
 

If you are able to transport your items and would like to be able to leave it with us on the day, if you choose to sell, then this is for you.  Come along any Monday (except Bank Holidays) between 10am-1pm to our Battlefield salerooms, no appointment necessary, and we’ll advise you on your next step.
