Honoring Black History Month in Southern Oregon

"Our Nation was founded on an idea: that all of us are created equal and deserve to be treated with equal dignity throughout our lives. It is a promise we have never fully lived up to but one that we have never, ever walked away from. The long shadows of slavery, Jim Crow, and redlining — and the blight of systemic racism that still diminishes our Nation today — hold America back from reaching our full promise and potential. But by facing those tragedies openly and honestly and working together as one people to deliver on America’s promise of equity and dignity for all, we become a stronger Nation — a more perfect version of ourselves."

– Excerpt from President Joe Biden's Proclamation on

National Black History Month, February 2022

BASE ~ Shining a light on Black-owned businesses, service providers and superstars in the valley.

The history of Oregon is one of exclusion toward Black people. Today Black people in the state represent less than 1% of Business owners. THIS BLACK HISTORY MONTH - BASE is recognizing awesome local business owners defying the odds here in Southern Oregon.

Volunteer to GET OUT the VOTE for the Upcoming Midterm Primaries and General Election

The Jackson County Democrats Neighborhood Leader program is recruiting additional volunteers to reach out to voters as "Neighborhood Leaders."

When you volunteer as a Neighborhood Leader, you'll be given training and a list of Democrats and progressive voters  in your neighborhood or in a nearby neighborhood to contact and remind to vote in upcoming elections. Did you know that some voters need to be contacted two to three times in order to get to the ballot box? Personally contacting voters is the most effective way to increase voter turnout. Please consider becoming a part of this successful program in Jackson County.  If you're interested, please email:  NLP@jcdemocrats.org

If you're already a Neighborhood Leader, consider recruiting a friend to become a Neighborhood Leader and don't forget to regularly check the Neighborhood Leader webpage:  https://www.jcdemocrats.org/nlp-menu

Get Your Tickets! April 9th is the Jackson County Democrats' Roosevelt Kennedy Dinner at the Ashland Hills Hotel!

We're excited to announce... our traditional Roosevelt-Kennedy dinner is back on the schedule!

In 1959 President Kennedy made a early campaign stop, shortly before announcing his presidential candidacy, in Medford, Oregon. In a return to our history of hosting a Roosevelt Kennedy Dinner, you are cordially invited to attend the 2022 event.

Our keynote speaker this year is Jane Kleeb, an experienced grassroots organizer, manager, political strategist and nonprofit entrepreneur and the chair of the Democratic Party of Nebraska. Recently profiled by PBS in a film called “Blue Wind on a Red Prairie,” Jane is a leader who deeply understands the need to connect issues that rural and urban communities are facing to politics in order to win elections in Nebraska.

Leading the statewide healthcare reform project called Change That Works, Jane brought together grassroots advocates and allied groups such as the AARP and Nebraska Appleseed.

In 2010, Kleeb founded the grassroots group Bold Nebraska leading farmers, ranchers and Native allies in an effort to stop the Keystone XL pipeline. Jane’s organizing earned her the title “Keystone Killer” and she was featured in the NY Time Magazine. Bold Nebraska expanded into the national Bold Alliance focusing on protecting property rights, water, and the clean energy transition.

Join the Jackson County Democratic Party to enjoy a night of history, fellowship, and solidarity in support of electing more Democrats to office in 2022!

Tickets are $80 each and can be purchased online through ActBlue: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/rooseveltkennedy2022

**We are planning for a COVID safe event and can't wait to see all our supporters in person for this important evening.  We will be raising funds for the upcoming Midterm election season and this will be our last major fundraiser before the upcoming Oregon primaries, so please don't miss it.  All proceeds from this event will go towards on Build the Blue in 2022 fund and will be spent right here in Jackson County.**
