| Learn to Mend Community Night = Success!
Our event sold out quickly and visitors came in with holey socks, ripped denim, broken zippers, frayed blankets and even one bridesmaid dress that needed an overhaul. Colorful socks were scattered across the tables as menders eagerly learned the art of darning. A man mended a broken seam on his wife’s kilt and a women used a baby blanket to patch some holes in an adult blanket!
Those who weren’t busy learning how to mend browsed the gently used clothing at the swap tables. There was plenty of laughter as friends sorted through the clothing and found hidden gems for themselves. And of course, some disappointment when a pair of suede knee-high boots were the wrong size. The Learn to Mend workshop was a wonderful reminder that, with a few simple sewing skills, our favorite garments can get a second life. We look forward to seeing everyone at our next one. |
