• Fed holds rates steady, expects to remain near zero through 2023

    The Federal Reserve said during its final meeting of a turbulent year that the coronavirus pandemic continues to dictate the course of the U.S economy and reiterated its pledge to hold interest rates near zero and act as needed to aid the nation's recovery. The U.S. central bank, as widely expected, held the benchmark federal funds rate at a range between 0% and 0.25%, where it has been since mid-March.
