FEMA cuts affect Baton Rouge projects

The Federal Emergency Management Agency says it is ending a program that included funding for two projects designed to protect parts of Baton Rouge that flooded in 2016. At least for the time being, the move effectively kills the proposals: a $26 million project on the Lively Bayou near Florida Boulevard, and a $27 million project along Roberts Canal near Glen Oaks Drive.

City-parish Transportation and Drainage Director Fred Raiford said the news was a tough blow.
