Happy Black Friday. We hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving. Skimm HQ is closed for the weekend, so the Skimm Shopping team is taking the helm to share what we’re buying from the million-ish sales happening right now. I’m following the time-honored Black Friday tradition of picking out holiday gifts, especially for the people in my life who are a little trickier to buy for. I.e.: my longtime hair stylist (she’s getting a chic pine-scented candle), my boyfriend’s dad (a mini Theragun), and my dad’s girlfriend’s Gen Z daughters (ribbon-adorned, candy-colored claw clips). That said, I can’t walk away from this cornucopia of sales without indulging in something for myself. As a responsible adult, I have my eye on this lightweight, cordless vacuum cleaner. But I’ll probably end up buying a pair of silky pajamas and these unexpected shoes to wear with them — yes, outside the house. What else am I supposed to wear during “Feral Week”?

“Nice sheets are my weakness, so I use big sales moments to pick up high-quality sets. As I’m currently going through a pinstripe bedding moment (I think it gives Amanda Brooks’ Cotswolds cottage energy), I’m getting the Tandem Stripe version of this Brooklinen bundle. I love the crisp, hotel-quality percale material.” —Caroline Goldstein
“I’m obsessed with Mejuri; they have the best everyday jewelry. I got this diamond initial pendant for my sister-in-law when she became part of the family, and it looks so pretty on her, I want one for myself. It’s just the right amount of sparkle, and I love that it hangs slightly diagonally to set it apart from other initial pendants.” —Martha Upton
“A while ago I stayed with my sister and her husband for a week, and to make a long story short, their pan set is atrocious. I’m using this sale weekend to get them a set from Caraway for the holidays. The pans are amazing — nonstick, quick to clean, they heat evenly, and are gorgeous. They're definitely a splurge item, but that’s why now is the perfect time to buy them.” —Alexandra Napoli
“If you’re stumped on what to get any guys in your life for the holidays, I got you. Stock up on this delicious white truffle-infused hot sauce from Truff. I gave a set to my brother last year and he loved it. It has a brighter flavor thanks to agave nectar and red chili peppers. Use code BF30 for 30% off sitewide.” —Margo Ghertner
“More often than not, I’m a boxers-and-sweatshirt-to-bed kinda girl. However, I got my hands on one of Eberjey’s washable silk PJ sets, and I may have kicked my boxers to the curb. These PJs are lightweight and don’t cling to my body like other silk numbers do. They’re pricier than most, but only because they’ll hold up for years.” —Alessandra Rey
“I’m all about a natural glow, so the 101 Set from Jones Road is a game-changer. The Face Pencil is perfect for spot-correcting blemishes, and the Miracle Balm doubles as the dreamiest highlighter. Add a little mascara, and boom — your face card? Never has, never will decline. I’d gift this to any of my friends, and even my teenage cousins as the perfect intro to makeup.” —Sarai Thompson
It used to be that celebrities were the only ones with access to red light therapy in the comfort of their homes. But now that the technology has gone mainstream and become slightly more affordable than the original versions, it seems like everyone is using red light masks — and there’s a reason for that. The main benefit is stimulating collagen production, which decreases with age, as well as reducing inflammation from acne or other skin conditions. (One editor’s dermatologist confirmed it also works well to reduce fine lines around your eyes, if that’s interesting to you.) We recently tested Solawave’s version and found that consistent use really did give us a bouncier, more radiant complexion, like how our skin looked when we were kids. The red light also feels soothing, so we like using it at night to unplug for 10 minutes. Today, you can buy one mask kit and get one for free to gift a very special person in your life.
Once upon a time, we were as skeptical as you (probably) are about period underwear. These Knix pairs made believers out of us. We’re partial to this pair for their long liner that runs all the way from front to back and side to side, so you truly will stay leak-free. Plus, the gentle compression feels like a comforting hug when you need it most. These are a nice option on days when your period isn’t heavy enough to use a tampon, but you don’t feel like dealing with the discomfort and waste of pantiliners. That said, the most absorbent version holds the equivalent of nine super tampons’ worth of liquid, and one of our shopping editors confirms they hold up on her heaviest days. The brand is taking up to 60% off today, so you can keep yourself stocked for the week.
