WENDY AND GRAEME'S STORY OF HOPE

Can you imagine having to live with cancer for seven years? Worse yet, can you imagine having to face invasive treatment without your loved ones by your side? When Wendy was diagnosed with cancer and then several years later, her husband Graeme, one of their first questions was: how would they be there for each other?

Living on a farm four hours from the nearest major hospital meant each time one of them needed treatment, they risked having to go alone. This meant being separated when they needed each other the most.

Our accommodation centre was a lifeline for the couple. It allowed them to be by each other’s side throughout their treatments: first for Wendy, then for Graeme.

HUGH JACKMAN AC

Longstanding Fight Cancer Foundation Patron, Hugh Jackman, has been recognised in the Queen's Birthday Honours List this year. 

Hugh has been honoured with a Companion of the Order, which is the highest of four levels of the Order of Australia. He has been recognised for eminent service to the performing arts as an acclaimed actor and performer, and to the global community.

Hugh has a personal connection to Fight Cancer Foundation – his mother-in-law Fay Duncan was a founding member and President. Along with his wife Deborra-lee Furness, Hugh has been an avid supporter of Fight Cancer Foundation since the early 1990’s.

We can’t thank Hugh and Deborra-lee enough for their outstanding contribution to the fight against cancer.

EXPANDING OUR EDUCATION SUPPORT SERVICES

In 2015 our education support program launched at The Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick and the following year at The Women and Children's Hospital, Adelaide.

This expansion meant our education support programs were now operating in four major paediatric hospitals across Australia, greatly increasing the reach and impact of the programs. 

Today, they are accessed by children from ACT, NSW, NT, SA, TAS, VIC and WA. Learning sessions are delivered in a variety of ways including face-to-face, bedside and online, ensuring children at all stages of treatment and recovery have access.
