In a typical year, more than 350,000 American adults die of sepsis — a number that could be lowered with better recognition of signs and symptoms of sepsis by everyone on a care team, says Cindy Hou, DO, MA, MBA, CIC, CPHQ, FACOI, FACP, FIDSA, chief medical officer of Sepsis Alliance.
