JAPAN HOUSE Los Angeles has been presenting the Rethinking of MA webinar series, examining the role of MA, a concept of time and space, applied throughout Japanese culture, in partnership with UCLA’s xLab, UCLA’s Terasaki Center, and University of Washington’s Japanese Studies program.

On February 1, award-winning director Ryūsuke Hamaguchi, whose film “Drive My Car” is Japan’s entry for Best International Feature Film for the Academy Awards, will share how MA was incorporated in his filmmaking process.
