NOTE

Note from the ACDIS Interim Director: Final ACDIS/AHIMA 2022 Guidelines for Compliance Query Practice brief released

by Laurie Prescott, RN, MSN, CCDS, CCDS-O, CDIP, CRC

Members of ACDIS and AHIMA began work to update the Guidelines for Achieving a Compliant Query Practice©* brief in the summer months of this year. We now share with you the finalized draft of this guidance, which is available here.

Our goal was to clarify previous guidance in the hopes that it could be followed more easily and not allow for gross misinterpretation. As with any guidance, each organization should review and apply this guidance within the context of their practices and policies. The brief offers much direction about the need for organizational policies related to query practice. We suggest you review your existing policies and identify any areas requiring further attention.

Advisory Board guidance

Did you know that ACDIS members have access to advocacy and leadership from a peer elected ACDS Advisory Board? This guidance includes peer-reviewed position papers and white papers!

Position papers are the association’s official, consensus stance on an issue, and are available to both members and non-members. They set a recommended standard for the CDI industry to follow. They advocate on behalf of a certain position or offer concrete solutions to a particular problem. You can find the latest position papers by clicking here.

White papers discuss CDI best practice, advance new ideas, increase knowledge, or offer suggestions for administrative simplification. They are less formal than a position paper, but still peer reviewed. You can find the latest white papers by clicking here.
