The 2019 ACDIS Symposium: Outpatient CDI, to be held November 14-15, at the Hyatt Regency in Austin, Texas.

We seek presentations on all aspects of outpatient clinical documentation improvement (CDI). That includes regulatory guidance and best practices for establishing successful programs in all outpatient settings, including physician practices, ambulatory, observation, ED, and other relevant areas.

Sessions from organizations with successful programs who are willing to share their best practices are particularly welcome and will receive additional consideration. In addition, we are looking for presentations on the following topics:

  • Metrics and data analytics: Key metrics related to outpatient CDI
    • Demonstrating the return on investment for system administrators
    • Statistics on physician buy-in (query response, agreement, etc.)
    • Statistics to analyze to improve physician buy-in (HCC improvement, quality scores, public reporting, etc.)
  • How to conduct quality-of-care focused reviews in the outpatient setting
  • Difference in CDI practices: Ambulatory (physician/clinic, etc.) vs. hospital-based outpatient (ED/observation, etc.)
  • Denials management and audit defense
    • Implementing an internal Medicare risk adjustment audit
    • Leveraging information from Risk Adjustment Data Validation (RADV) audits/CDI efforts for improving RADV outcomes
  • How to leverage the EMR to improve outpatient CDI
  • Provider education in outpatient CDI
  • Strategies for provider engagement in outpatient settings
  • Clinical considerations
    • Diabetes
    • Congestive heart failure
    • Alzheimer’s disease/mental health concerns
    • Renal diseases
    • Cancer treatments
    • Other conditions commonly treated in outpatient settings
  • Coding systems and strategies
    • HCCs and how to calculate
    • Risk modeling beyond HCCS (Vizient, Truven, CMS O/E)
    • Evaluation & Management coding and CDI opportunities

Sessions will be chosen by the 2019 ACDIS Symposium Conference Committee.

CDI and/or HIM/coding professionals typically present at ACDIS, but we also welcome practicing physicians, case management and quality personnel, healthcare auditors, lawyers, and other professionals with a tie to, or an interest in, CDI.

We look forward to hearing your ideas on making the 2019 ACDIS Symposium: Outpatient CDI a richly rewarding experience for all attendees. Click here to apply.
