Good Thursday morning, Tiger fans. It's now T-minus 10 days until LSU's season opener in Las Vegas against Southern California (6:30 p.m. CDT, Sept. 1, ABC). Wednesday was the last day that reporters got to attend, report on and video preseason practice this preseason. It was a significant day, as coach Brian Kelly said the Tigers worked on their game plan for the Trojans as well as what USC may throw at LSU when they meet in the desert. We have our final in-person camp observations here, as well as other news and notes from a sunny but not too hot day at the LSU practice facility. Meanwhile, lots of news coming out of the SEC office in Birmingham. One, the conference has finally released its tiebreakers for determining the two teams in the SEC Championship Game, which by the way this year falls on Dec. 7. You may recall that the SEC is doing away with divisions with the addition of Texas and Oklahoma, meaning it won't be as simple as pitting the Eastern Division champion against the Western champ. No more East and West in the SEC, hence the need for new tiebreakers. Still to come: a permanent SEC football scheduling format. One of these days. The SEC also announced the women's basketball schedule for its member schools Wednesday, prompting LSU to release its full schedule for the 2024-25 season. The LSU baseball team also made some news, as Jay Johnson has hired away a member of the Houston Astros training staff to be the Tigers' new strength and conditioning coach. And finally, former LSU women's basketball star Angel Reese has a sweet new branding deal that really suits her name to a T. Thank you all for reading and subscribing.
