Just published: Our 2021 Annual Report

In 2021, we mobilised more than €25.6 million in local sanitation investments, delivering on 2 major, multi-million euro programmes, 5 smaller projects and various consultancies, active in 9 countries, contributing to a healthier environment and improved livelihoods for more than 1.2 million people. Learn more about the impact we achieved together, and what's in store for the future.

IKEA Social Entrepreneurship joins our Take-a-Stake team to support WASH & waste entrepreneurs in Asia and Africa

We are pleased to announce that IKEA Social Entrepreneurship has joined our Take-a-Stake initiative. Together, and with our partner, Yunus Social Business, we are aiming to support 100 social businesses in the WASH and waste management sectors in East Africa, India and beyond.

India's dire plastic problem

One notable team to joining the fight against plastic waste is our FINILOOP programme. FINILOOP is partnering with cities to reduce, redesign and improve plastics management. By stimulating the usage of less plastic, looking for alternatives and keeping plastic longer in the ‘loop’, we are building on circularity to strengthen local markets.

SQUAT is a useful tool developed by WASTE to measure the very difficult metric of qualitative impact. As the core of WASTE’s work focuses on systems change, this is crucial for us, and many like us.

We have together developed sustainable and inclusive solutions to many challenges. Approaching our 40th anniversary, we revisited some key players from our history of collaborations to learn lessons on how we can maintain the spirit of our founders and early work as we move forward.
