Prepared for Voornaam

What do blockchain, AI and big data have in common? They’re just a few of the innovative technologies the firms featured in our February “Opportunities in disruption” cover story are using to push the profession into the future — and they’re also foundational to many of the tools selected as our 2022 Best New Products.

Oh, and the subject of our Practice Profile — our look into CPA firms with unique practices and services — is also harnessing big data to do even bigger things for staff retention.

But back to the masters of disruption: The four firms we spoke to gave us a look inside their cutting-edge work for clients and insight into how they’re capitalizing on rapidly changing technology to future-proof their practices.

And for firms looking to do the same, this year’s crop of Best New Products would be a good place to start. These 12 honorees — ranging from software solutions to training courses to training programs — can help CPAs upgrade their operations and their service offerings.

Additionally, we have a special report this month that spotlights the expansion of payroll into a range of in-demand new offerings, including HR and benefits.

Also in this issue: We look at the myriad complications ahead of another difficult tax season; outline the top SALT stories of 2021; and address the challenges — and the unexpected upsides — of the Great Resignation.

All that and much more in the February issue of Accounting Today. We hope you enjoy!
