Finding the Winners as the AI Race Heats Up Again Growing up in the 80’s, the year 2025 seemed unimaginable. Flying cars. Motorized artificial limbs. Ultra intelligent computer-driven robots. Yet here we are. The future is now, and it’s wilder than I even dreamed. One thing is clear. This year will continue to see even wilder advancements due to our most transformative technology that is still in its early phases: artificial intelligence. AI seems scary to a lot of people… mainly because of the unknown. We don’t yet fully know the implications of creating an autonomous intelligence more powerful than our own. Think back to the classic film “2001: A Space Odyssey” that featured AI technology in a computer named HAL 9000. The film came out in 1968, yet HAL had speech and facial recognition, interpreted emotional behavior, had automated reasoning, and well, acted human. Sound familiar?

There are some amazingly good possibilities to think about, from improving our productivity to speeding up the cure for cancer and other diseases. I’ve talked a lot about that already here in Power Trends, and that won’t change in the new year. Especially as we see AI all over the headlines this week with President Trump announcing an up to $500 billion private sector AI infrastructure investment in a joint venture called Stargate – even that sounds very futuristic. Open AI, Softbank (SFTBY), and Oracle (ORCL) will team up over the next four years to build data centers in the United States, starting in Texas and eventually expanding to other states. For AI to reach its true potential, we need tons more computing power… not to mention power itself. While machines acting as humans is pretty scary, data centers and the necessary infrastructure to power AI is far less intimidating. And that’s where the best opportunities are right now. So, let’s dive in to the positives of AI, including how we can harness this technology for our gain. Enhancing Humanity Through AI There’s no denying AI is the future… and that future is now. Naturally, it’s a big deal, and we can see it already enhancing humanity and changing our lives for the better. Some companies are already using AI to improve our lives. The medical world is actively embracing this technology in research and diagnostics. One company leading the way is Intuitive Surgical (ISRG). ISRG develops, manufactures, and markets robotics designed to improve outcomes of patients through minimally invasive surgery. Its most notable robotic machine is the da Vinci Surgical System. This is a company I’ve known and invested in through the years, and I recommended it to my TradeSmith Investment Report subscribers last March. The stock has surged nearly 55% since then, and its latest earnings report after the close today shows how the robust growth continues.
