An enchanting garden restaurant below bustling Waterloo station

You might not equate Waterloo station — the busiest in all of London — with tranquillity and fine dining. Yet, secreted away beneath its platforms is an enchanting new restaurant, which takes as its muse the quintessential English gardens of the Victorian era. This is The Rosarium.

With its opulent interiors designed by Faber, The Rosarium is a feast for the eyes — here, the luxe and the surreal combine to create incandescent deco-styled dining spaces, sprinkled with horticultural flourishes and dreamlike artworks. There's a central glasshouse, an indoor terrace — and, for a private dining experience like no other — The Rosarium’s secret garden.

As for the cuisine — 'otherworldly' springs to mind. Executive Chef Harvey Ayliffe oversees a mouth-watering reimagining of elevated British dishes — a taste bud-bending take on fish and chips ('Fish in a Chip'); pie, mash and liquor done deliciously vegan; and elegant desserts such as champagne trifle with raspberry and elderflower (grab a spoon each and dive right in!). For special occasions, date nights — or if you just want to treat someone special — this is dining with a difference, located moments from the South Bank. Plus, as it's in Waterloo station, the train/tube connections really couldn't be better!
