A New RegExp Engine in SpiderMonkey
Regular expressions – commonly known as RegExps – are a powerful tool in JavaScript for manipulating strings. They’re also heavily used, so it’s important for SpiderMonkey (the JavaScript engine in Firefox) to optimize them well. By introducing a shim layer between SpiderMonkey and the Irregexp regexp engine, it has become easier to support new features more quickly.

Compiler Compiler - Inside Mozilla's JavaScript Engine

Join Mozilla engineer Yulia Startsev for a live guided tour of working on the SpiderMonkey compiler and improving its conformance with ECMA-262, the JavaScript Specification. In this series, she will go step by step through open issues, implement fixes, and help you understand spec text. Viewers will be invited to ask questions, make suggestions, and, if they fix a bug themselves, have their solutions discussed on the stream.

Sessions are one hour long, streamed via Twitch, and start at 15:00 UTC (8am PST, 17:00 CEST).
