First, we beat the Falcons . . .

By Bob Warren

Road to the Super Bowl: Our Saints will open the regular season against, you got it, the Falcons in Atlanta on Sept. 11. And the following week, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who we also don’t think very highly of, visit the Dome for the home opener. The NFL schedule will formally be released tonight, but Amie Just has the deets here.

Elevation lawsuits: After Hurricane Katrina, thousands of people got grants through the state to raise their homes. But in many cases, the grants weren’t enough, and the money went to repairs instead. Now, the state is suing around 3,500 people for not using the grants to elevate. We teamed with ProPublica and WWL-TV to detail how federal disaster programs are failing residents.

Swarmin': It's swarm season, friends. And the Formosan termites have been out in force the last few nights. Here are some things you might be asking.

Pollution and hurricanes: Great lead on this story from Mark Schleifstein. “No good deed goes unpunished.” See why a new study is linking a rise in the  number of hurricanes to the reduction in air pollution.

Six Flags in pictures: Remember the old Six Flags amusement park in New Orleans East? The city is trying to get it redeveloped, a process that’s had more downs than ups. Photographer David Grunfeld put together this collection of photos over the years – and included a handful where he played drone pilot.

Hope you enjoyed today’s Lunch Line. Thanks for taking a break with us. And of course, be sure to check out NOLA.com for more news throughout the day.
