Many have called for doing “whatever it takes” to mitigate the economic consequences of COVID-19. While this may be a manageable approach for advanced economies, developing countries face significant constraints. Rabah Arezki and Shanta Devarajan discuss the fiscal challenges that the pandemic presents.

“An estimated 6 million immigrants around the country are in essential jobs, working in health care, restaurants, grocery stores, and agriculture. Yet, they are being denied the same benefits as other people who are on the front lines.” John Hudak talks to Rep. The European project is uniquely at risk now because of its indefensible borders, lack of strategic resources, and dependence on globalization. Constanze Stelzenmüller argues that despite the initial reaction to COVID-19, European nations will have to work together to come through the pandemic.
