The Telegraph take

By Sophie Christie personal finance reporter

In last Saturday's paper we announced some sad news – in February we will bid farewell to Jessica Gorst-Williams, our reputable, reliable and relentless consumer champion, who has won back millions of pounds for Telegraph Money readers over the past 21 years.

Her first column of 2019 looked at her biggest wins of the last year, while she also reflected on the most prevalent issue in her postbag: scams.

Jessica's departure will mark the end of an era for Telegraph Money, and we'd love to hear how Jessica has helped you, either directly, through her columns and tips in these pages, or by inspiring you to take up the mantle and fight back yourself against those financial institutions that seek to rob you of your money. Details of how to write in to us are listed here.

Arthur Price said about the trick to dodge child benefit cuts: "It's an unfair situation when households with net earnings double those of a single breadwinner on 60,000 can still receive the benefit. Single breadwinner households are already disadvantaged by the tax system."

Michael Morgan said about don't rely on the Government's energy price cap: "The Tory party opens up the market to promote competition and lower prices and now they introduce price caps. If it wasn't working then price caps are not the answer."

Pete Taylor said about mini-bond customers in limbo as FCA probe freezes 14,000 accounts: "8 per cent fixed rate return. Too good to be true. Anyone 'investing' in this deserves what they get."
