Please take a minute or two to read the question below and the details behind it, then cast your vote and add your opinion. The results will be announced in Thursday's edition of the WBJ Daily Report. | THIS WEEK'S QUESTION: | The Worcester Regional Research Bureau in May outlined a formula it said could move Worcester towards a more equitable business tax rate, rather than a lower rate for residential property and a higher rate for businesses. WRRB recommended either a unilateral transition, which would freeze the business tax levy, resulting in a gradual shift back to a single rate as the residential tax increases, or a bilateral transition, which would establish a timeline for a single rate. How has Worcester's dual-tax rate affected your business? We have to be extra conscious of our overhead costs because of the high tax rate. We have avoided Worcester as a site for possible expansion or relocation. We have taken advantage of tax-increment financing to reduce our tax burden. It doesn't impact us directly. This week's Flash Poll seeks your vote and opinion on this topic. Voice your opinion now! We appreciate all comments and opinions. To print any comments in the WBJ, we ask that you provide your first and last name, and prefer you also list the company you work for or the town where you work or reside. However, all comments posted in good taste will appear on our website. Comment: Can't answer the question in your email? Click here to view as web page before commenting. |
