While the narrative about Worcester's economic growth says the city and region have turned the corner, key indicators such as new housing starts, per capita GDP and population growth for the Worcester metropolitan region (which includes Worcester County and Windham County, Conn.) show the region is lagging behind similar metro areas, such as Fresno, Calif. and Albany, N.Y.
Is Worcester undergoing a true renaissance?
Yes. The region has reached Boom Town status.
Yes. Worcester is not all the way there but has positive momentum.
Yes. The city has entered a renaissance but the rest of the region has to catch up.
