Companies can unlock a wider range of perspectives from employees identifying four distinct thinking patterns -- analytical, innovative, relational and procedural -- writes Nina Simons, citing research from Dawna Markova and others. Also important is understanding how the three ways employees process information -- "auditory, visual and kinesthetic" -- and which is best for each employee, Simons writes.
Employees will continue to leave their jobs in search of something better for the indefinite future and companies should prepare for this to be a lasting change, says a report by Gartner, which also predicts that 37 million people will quit their jobs in the US this year, a 20% increase from pre-pandemic levels. Flexible work is helping to fuel this trend because it lowers the cost of leaving a job.
Job growth remained steady in April, according to the Labor Department, with the economy adding 428,000 jobs and the unemployment rate remaining near a pre-pandemic low. Average hourly earnings increased 0.3% compared with March and 5.5% compared with April 2021 amid a tight labor market.

Online learning platform Coursera has launched its “Career Academy for Institutions,” which it says will serve as a bridge between universities and the business world. The academy will offer certificates from IBM and Meta in an online format that Coursera says will keep more students enrolled in colleges.
