Florida company closes deal for 1,600 acres for solar farm near Port Barre

Good morning, Acadiana business news readers. Let's get down to business. 

News is trickling in over another company buying a bunch of acreage for a solar panel farm in St. Landry Parish. This time it's NextEra Energy, which bought 1,600 acres near Port Barre for a project that is expected to be a $200 million investment.

Earlier this year Lightsource bp, a BP subsidiary that is building a giant solar farm in Pointe Coupee Parish, said it will build a $170 million facility near the Plaisance community.
