The Sunday Round-Up | April 11, 2021 Happy Sunday! Travel is back in the USA and in a big way. Now that I'm almost fully vaccinated (5 more days will bring me to the end of the two week waiting period following my second shot), I'm really starting to get the travel bug. However, I've read some alarming news stories and tweets from doctors who I follow on Twitter (like this thread) and it brings me back down to earth. These variants are scary, especially for parents with young children. (Scroll down to 12 Things in Travel You Need to Know Today for an interesting piece about how epidemiologists are planning to vacation with their unvaccinated kids.) There just seems to be so many unknowns. Fingers and toes crossed that the vaccines stop this madness. Speaking of the pandemic, the CDC is now forcing airlines to crack down on fake COVID-19 tests, which is great news. Here's what you need to know before you can fly into the U.S. U.S. Hopes Cruises Will Return By Mid-Summer More good news: There's hope that cruises will return to the United States by mid-summer. Details here. Are American and United Airlines Out of Their Minds? On Thursday, I published a post called Is United Airlines Out of Their Minds? ... not to be confused with the previous day's post called Is American Airlines Out of Their Minds? (What can I say, I was on a roll!) Anyhow, the United story was based on an email I received from a reader asking about a charge on a recent fare. I followed up with United and they got back to me so I've updated the article with their response. Read it here. American Airlines Is Giving Away 100 Million Miles In celebration of their 40th AAdvantage anniversary, American Airlines is giving away 100 million miles, including one million to 40 different winners! It's a fun, free game that members can play every day and I've already won over 500 miles and 20% off at Hyatt hotels. Another huge benefit is that it's an easy way to extend your miles another 18 months in case you haven't had any activity. Here are the details. Where to Get Tim Hortons Coffee
Before we get to the news of the day ... my Canadian wife just discovered that you can buy Tim Hortons coffee on Amazon and it made her day so I thought it might make yours, too. (And I don't know about you but I'd like to throw that tasty-looking doughnut right down my pie hole.)
