Flying Saucer to close Columbia location

Texas-based Flying Saucer Draught Emporium announced it is closing its Columbia location on Tuesday. The craft beer bar had a 16-year run in the Vista.

Fireflies praise task force formation

While Columbia’s minor league team is not among the 42 targeted for potential contraction, the Fireflies say they’re united with all MiLB teams in opposition to the plan. A congressional task force was formed this week.

BullStreet District getting another tech company

Truematter is moving its 13 employees and headquarters from West Columbia to the second floor of the Ensor Building in the BullStreet District. The company, which will join Capgemini in the district, specializes in user experience strategy and design.

Drought status lowered or removed for 38 counties

The S.C. Drought Response Committee said conditions have improved statewide in restoring 14 counties to normal drought designation status. The committee downgraded 24 counties from moderate to incipient status.
