Furthermore, a limited edition box set of the 50th issue and authorised print (edition of 50) by Nadav Kander will go on sale. The periodical first appeared in 2002, in conjunction with the establishment of Foam Fotografiemuseum Amsterdam, serving as an extension of the museum and offering an international platform for all kinds of photography, from historic to contemporary, and from documentary to fashion. Issues such as Dummy, William Klein, Ai Weiwei and On Earth, which have long been out of print, will be available, for the first time, in full digital form. FOAM MAGAZINE #50: WATER The 50th issue of Foam Magazine, Water, emphasises the essential role that the element of water plays in our lives. From ritual cleansing medium to powerful tool feeding the political and commercial interests of our age, water encompasses everything. Poetic abstractions of Icelandic glaciers and waterfalls by the South Korean artist Boomoon come together with the meditative works of Nadav Kander about the river Thames. Besides beauty, Water offers a variety of other perspectives on this vital liquid, such as Boris Mikhailov’s series Salt Lake, which explores the vivid contrast inherent in bathing in a sacred but polluted lake. Foam Magazine #50: Water is now available via subscription or as a single issue at Foam, various specialised bookshops worldwide and the Foam webshop. DIGITAL EDITION A new feature launched simultaneously to celebrate the 50th issue, is the digital edition of Foam Magazine. Starting today, current and highly coveted but sold-out issues can be accessed from anywhere via web, the branded iOS app or Android with a digital subscription (€28,99/year). The digital edition is accessible for both individual readers and for educational institutions and libraries worldwide via Exact Editions. Starting with the most recent issues from the past six years, the digital archive makes it easy for scholars, critics and curators to search and browse a rich history of photographic developments. TIMELESS, AWARD-WINNING PUBLICATION Over the years, Foam Magazine has won various awards, both for its graphic design and for the quality of its contents. In 2017 it was awarded the prestigious Photography Magazine of the Year at the Lucie Awards in New York. Each publication centres on a specific theme and contains portfolios that are printed on different types of carefully selected paper thanks to the support of IGEPA. With topics as contemporary as they are timeless, issues such as Meanwhile, Wonder, Happy, Peeping, Searching, Traces, Micro and The Messenger are as relevant today as they were at the time of their publication. A number of special issues were also published, each of which was made in close collaboration with the artist, starting with William Klein in 2013, followed by Araki in 2014, and most recently the very popular and sold out edition of Freedom of Expression under Surveillance by Ai Weiwei. Finally, the Talent issue is one of the most anticipated recurring editions of the magazine. The result of a far-reaching international open call, creative professionals and experts from around the world eagerly await its release to gain insight into Foam’s take on the latest developments in the medium of photography. Since its inception, some 180 artists have been featured in Foam Magazine’s Talent issue, including Pieter Hugo, Anouk Kruithof, Alex Prager, Yoshinori Mizutani, Sara Cwynar, Juno Calypso, Clément Lambelet. | | | | | | Foam Magazine #37: William Klein, Cover Spread, 2013 © Foam | | | | Foam Magazine #50 Water EAN 8710966455234-00050 | 288 pages | 300x230x23 mm | 1118 g Buy single issue (€22,50) Subscribe to the print edition (from €59,-) Subscribe to the digital edition (€28,99) Digital subscriptions for institutions The limited edition box set will be launched on 23 May at shop.foam.org and Foam Editions. | | | | unsubscribe here Newsletter was sent to newsletter@newslettercollector.com © 5 May 2018 photography-now.com Ziegelstr. 29 .
