Fog, smoke and a fatal crash: There was more mayhem on the roadways this morning, as thick fog and smoke covered the metro like a glove. I-10 was closed after a fatal crash near Irish Bayou, and then roadways clogged as drivers scrambled to find other routes to the south shore. At one point, the tolls were even lifted on the Causeway. Today’s fatal crash, of course, comes a couple weeks after a horrible crash in the thick smoke and fog on I-55 claimed the lives of seven people.
Rain? What’s that? Speaking of the weather, a cold front is coming. No biggie there, right? It’s November after all. Ahhh, but it might bring some rare rain . . .
New Orleans names: We know some of the folks who have been tapped to be on Jeff Landry’s transition committee that’s focused on New Orleans. Sam Karlin has the details of the governor-elect’s Crescent City effort.
Angola ruling: Saying the prison has violated inmates’ constitutional rights, a federal judge has ordered federal oversight for the Louisiana Penitentiary at Angola. The ruling says the prison has systematically ignored inmates’ medical needs.
