On June 1st 2020 Fondazione Sozzani will reopen to the public. Now that we are temporarily closed we will continue to share online content, exhibitions, interviews, videos from Fondazione Sozzani archives over the coming weeks.

Working with masters of photography stimulated my thinking about the balance between the illusion of an image, the flow of the purely aesthetic appreciation of the image, and the practical aspects of its creation.
That was linked to my editorial experience in magazines. Each publishing assignment enabled me to create a cross-pollination between all the arts I knew and loved – design, architecture, fashion, art, history, music, and literature. Above all, I came to recognize and respect great photography. I was privileged in this way to discover the reality of an image, the “behind the camera” part, and to learn the art and seduction of fashion in front of the lens.
I first met Helmut and June during a trip to Monte Carlo. Over time and several assignments and exhibitions, we became friends and I entered the affectionate world they have always shared with others. Helmut and June also inspired my own work at the Gallery, and they would offer advice on photographers I was considering for the exhibitions.

The Fondazione Sozzani was established in 2016 by Carla Sozzani and is dedicated to the promotion of culture through photography, fashion, fine and applied arts. The Foundation has assumed the patronage of Galleria Carla Sozzani and continues all relevant public functions that the Galleria has supported for the past 30 years.
